Welcome to Hermes 2018

Hermes is an entirely student-led summer school that brings together training in both materials modelling and science communication. It attracts bright and like-minded early career researchers from around the world and equips them with the skills they need to maximise their future impact. Alongside this, Hermes aims to promote teamwork and create long-lasting international networks . Following on from the hugely successful Hermes 2012, 2014 and 2016, Hermes 2018 is the fourth iteration of the summer school.

Being a multi-disciplinary event, Hermes will consist of a series of masterclasses on using computer simulations at different length scales. Consequently, this will provide insight as to where your work fits into the wider context of materials modelling. Alongside the academics giving masterclasses, communication professionals will run workshops to show you the art of effective presentation. This will leave participants with the vital communication skills needed in science, allowing you to bring your research to the attention of the widest possible audience.

Hermes will take place on the 19th - 23rd of July 2018 at The Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park, just a stone's throw from London. This event is designed and led by students from leading academic institutions in the UK and abroad and with support from Theory and Simulation of Materials Centre for Doctoral Training at Imperial College London.

The delivery team look forward to welcoming you in summer 2018 and in the meantime if you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to contact us!
